22 Apr Smart City Startups Miami 2015
The Wynwood Warehouse District in Miami, Florida was the site for the Smart City Startups Summit April 22nd-24th. The purpose of the Summit was to gather a core group of the leading UrbanTech founders to meet each other as well as enablers (city officials, investors, partners, etc) to share experiences, knowledge, and relationships. Around 250 – 300 folks were in attendance at the summit. About half were founders and around 50 were city officials from cities around the US and Europe. The rest were a mix of investors, industry partners, urban leaders, and advisors. The opening talk featured Founder of urban.us Shaun Abrahamson riding in on startup participant Onewheel’s single wheel electronic skate board. The summit took on a new age feel by letting attendees determine what subjects would be covered and when they would be discussed. Full of breakout discussions, the conference was highlighted by great food, people and ideas. Overall, the conference was informative and very creative with ample networking opportunities throughout the day and night.
