VTA Workshop “Anticipating How Future Technologies Could Impact the Silicon Valley Express Lanes”

12 Oct VTA Workshop “Anticipating How Future Technologies Could Impact the Silicon Valley Express Lanes”

Last Friday MetroTech attended a Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) workshop. The workshop was titled “Anticipating How Future Technologies Could Impact the Silicon Valley Express Lanes”. A background on the current state and future of managed lanes and VTA express lanes started the workshop. From there, key questions and problem statements were proposed regarding how to “future proof” technologies being implemented, how we should measure success of systems, and how can we reduce current throwaway of existing technologies moving forward. Technology presentations on tolling applications, communication systems, mass transit, autonomous and connected vehicles, and active traffic management were presented in two sets with the same key questions and problem statements being discussed after each. The break outs and entire group discussions drove some great conversations about the future of technology as it relates to managed lanes and express lanes. MetroTech would like to thank the VTA organizers and participants for putting on a great interactive event.
