Mike Drapeau lends 25+ years of sales and marketing expertise to MetroTech. As a Managing Partner at SBI, he has 8 years’ experience as a specialized business consultant, advising such corporate giants as Hewlett-Packard, Adobe, Genzyme Biomedical, Phillips 66 and Dow Jones.

Before his tenure at SBI, Mike founded and ran The Drapeau Group, an IT process consultancy group that counted Choicepoint, Federated, Ceridien, and Raymond James among its clients. He led sales force productivity at EMC Corporation and was a senior sales executive with TRADEX, the first internet-based B2B marketplace for consumables. He also served 11 years as a Combat Logistics Officer in the United States Navy.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English from the University of Virginia.


Kurt’s recognized track record as a successful serial (and parallel), entrepreneur, investor and strategic advisor allows him to help spectacular companies reach their next stage of growth. He is known for building and operating businesses from start-up to over $500M annual revenue, building teams across six continents, an IPO ($880M) and multiple acquisitions.

With deep experience in the mapping and data word, Kurt held multiple roles with NAVTEQ including M&A, strategy, and IP efforts, and eventually acquired by Nokia HERE. He held emerging products and corporate development roles with Vitrue, which was acquired by Oracle.

An active member of the Atlanta entrepreneurial and technology communities, Kurt serves as an advisor to multiple start-up companies. He plays a key role with Flashpoint at Georgia Tech including being a coach / mentor for participating companies, with the goal of finding Authentic Demand to increase company value.

In addition to an Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University, a Finance degree from University of Alabama, and a Masters degree from University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business, Kurt holds 14 patents. In his spare time, he is a professional stunt performer.


Joy Randels is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for launching and nurturing startups. A seasoned corporate executive, she has served in all C-level roles and has experience in sales, marketing, business development, product development and professional services. These skills, combined with her expertise in security and network management, make her a considerable asset to MetroTech in the role of Advisor.

Joy currently works as CEO of New Market Partners, a technology company accelerator focused on emerging technologies, and is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Applied G2, a market leading security solutions provider to Global 2000 companies and the Federal Government. She serves as a Mentor and Board Member in many tech- and startup- oriented organizations, and was Vice President at CA Technologies.

Joy holds a degree from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in Information Technology, and has studied Entrepreneurship at Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan School of Management.


As a veteran entrepreneur, investor, inventor, and advisor with specialization in Information Systems and Technology, Dave Bernard has founded several companies and held developer, managerial and executive positions in numerous industries. He very actively invests in tech startups and serves in several advisory and mentorship positions. His in-depth understanding of state-of-the-art technology development combined with his business acumen make him a valuable ally in his role as Advisor to MetroTech.

Dave currently heads The Intellection Group as CEO and Co-Founder, providing sophisticated custom technology solutions to companies and government agencies. They specialize in new and emerging technology such as voice recognition, text-to speech, GPS, RFID, and natural language processing. He also runs BeneVets, a company that provides technology and financial solutions to those who serve veterans.

Dave holds a degree in Information and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.


Doug Bulleit has led a distinguished career as a telecom and technology executive, parlaying his technical knowledge into innovative business opportunities and strategic planning initiatives. His expertise includes large-scale information networking in new technological applications such as SmartGrid, so his problem-solving insights are extremely well suited to the challenges MetroTech seeks to tackle.

Doug currently serves as an Advisor to Causam Energy, a company whose software platform delivers real-time communications and data services to intelligent power grid participants. He also serves as Managing Partner at DCS, a company dedicated to using social networking and search to lower the costs of healthcare. He spent 20 years as Chief Strategist for Bellsouth and was the President of BellSouth Advanced Networks.

Doug has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, participated in the Management of Technology Program at the Sloan School of Management at MIT, and completed the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.


An expert in wireless vehicular solutions, Justin McNew has helped develop numerous patented products now in use in major cities. He was Chief Technical Officer of Kapsch TrafficCom, an international supplier of intelligent road traffic telematic systems, including electronic toll collections systems and traffic management systems. A talented engineering leader and a dynamic business strategist, Justin’s understanding of MetroTech’s technologies makes him an invaluable Advisor.

Justin served as Vice President of Intelligent Traffic Systems Strategy and Commercialization for Kapsch before going on to BTI Wireless as VP of Marketing and Product Management. Justin now helms his own consulting and engineering services firm, JMC Rota Inc., specializing in wireless applications in the transportation, healthcare, and mobile resource management industries.

Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Bob Jones University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University.
